Subarctic catchment water storage and carbon cycling – Leading the way for future studies using integrated datasets at Pallas, Finland

چکیده

Subarctic ecohydrological processes are changing rapidly, but detailed and integrated investigations not as widespread necessary. We introduce an research catchment site (Pallas) for atmosphere, ecosystems, ecohydrology studies in subarctic conditions Finland that can be used a new set of comparative investigations. The Pallas provides unique observational data high-intensity field measurement datasets over long periods. infrastructure atmosphere- to landscape-scale ecosystem landscape has recently been complemented with measurements. identify three dominant ecohydrology: (a) strong seasonality drives regimes, (b) limited dynamic storage causes rapid stream response water inputs (snowmelt intensive storms), (c) hydrological state the system regulates catchment-scale dissolved carbon dynamics greenhouse (GHG) fluxes. Surface groundwater interactions play important role regulating balances respiration within peatlands, particularly their spatial variability landscape. Based on our observations from Pallas, we highlight key gaps propose several ways forward. also demonstrate meets need sustaining pushing boundaries critical long-term high-latitude environments.

Carbon budget estimation of a subarctic catchment using a dynamic ecosystem model at high spatial resolution

A large amount of organic carbon is stored in highlatitude soils. A substantial proportion of this carbon stock is vulnerable and may decompose rapidly due to temperature increases that are already greater than the global average. It is therefore crucial to quantify and understand carbon exchange between the atmosphere and subarctic/arctic ecosystems. In this paper, we combine an Arctic-enabled...

simulation and experimental studies for prediction mineral scale formation in oil field during mixing of injection and formation water

abstract: mineral scaling in oil and gas production equipment is one of the most important problem that occurs while water injection and it has been recognized to be a major operational problem. the incompatibility between injected and formation waters may result in inorganic scale precipitation in the equipment and reservoir and then reduction of oil production rate and water injection rate. ...

Integrated Water Allocation-Economic Modelling at a Catchment Scale

Rapid economic and population growth has led to increased demand for water from the industrial and domestic sectors and put pressure on resources available for agricultural production. With growing scarcity and increasing inter-sectorial competition for water the need for efficient and sustainable water allocation policies has also become more important. Finding ways to meet this growing demand...

A Novel Integrated Approach to Oil Production Optimization and Limiting the Water Cut Using Intelligent Well Concept: Using Case Studies

Intelligent well technology has provided facility for real time production control through use of subsurface instrumentation. Early detection of water production allows for a prompt remedial action. Effective water control requires the appropriate performance of individual devices in wells on maintaining the equilibrium between water and oil production over the entire field life. However, there...
